About me

After my graduation from highschool in 1959 from Nykøbing Mors Gymnasium, I started my muscial studies in Copenhagen, partly at the Copenhagen University of Musical Science and partly at the Royal Danish  Academy of Music,  where I studied under Ebba Nielsen (organ) and Eyvind Møller (piano). I supplemented my studies with a lengthy visit to Paris, where I studied under one of the times great organ masters Gaston Litaize. At later stages, I participated in master courses in Europa with Anton Heiller, Marie-Claire Alain and Luigi F. Tagliavini as my honorable teachers.

In 1965 I was organist of the Church of Flintholm, Frederiksberg, and from 1972 to 2007 I was caretaker of the office as organist and choir master of the Holy Trinity church, Copenhagen. Here I had rich oportunities to explore and unfold the arts of the musical enterprise of the church, at sermons in the role of organist and choir master and by arranging and playing concerts, forinstance the higly visited concert series "Organ Music for Passers by" during the winter months. Thanks to the marvolous organ by Marcussen & Son "P.G.Andersen", we where able to realize most of the organ litterature at these concerts. An annualy recurring event at these concerts were a performance of the ”La Nativité du Seigneur”  (The Birth of the Lord) by Olivier Messiaen. This was performed the last friday before Christmas. In total, I got to perform this piece 21 times at the Holy Trinity Church.

In September 2012 I was employed as the organist of the Vartov Church in København.

For a longer period of time, up until 1989, I was a member of the teaching staff at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. I have received the Ove Christensens honorary award in 1965 and the Tagea Brandts travel scholarship in 1988.
